    This position will reside in either Los Angeles or Palo Alto.


    • Accounts for the development, coordination and implementation of the Palo Alto, Los Angeles and San Francisco offices’ administrative functions and its organizational development
    • Establishes programs to maximize productivity, teamwork and utilization
    • Assesses and establishes metrics to improve office efficiencies and processes to minimize financial impact
    • Develops and monitors the offices’ annual operating and capital budgets with the approval of the Partner-in-Charge and the Global COO
    • Participates in the development, communication and administration of both legal and non-legal policies and programs
    • Oversees the offices’ facilities management, including space design, utilization, renovation, maintenance, and subleasing
    • Ensures adequate training and development for staff and compliance with risk-management policies
    • Provides regular management reports and analysis to the Partner-in-Charge as to the operations and needs of each office
    • Coordinates with the functional leadership team to ensure the offices receive required support from US and global support functions (IT, HR, Attorney Development & Recruiting, Business Development & Marketing)
    • Responsible for annual performance management via viDesktop for West Coast staff personnel
    • Performance feedback, counseling, disciplinary actions when applicable
    • Annual merit-based compensation strategy for salary increases and bonuses for staff
    • Analysis of staffing levels and requests for assistance in all offices and work with U.S. centralization and efficiency models for staffing consideration
    • Operational budget analysis and recommendations


    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college is required
    • MBA is a plus
    • Minimum of 7 years of senior level management with multiple departmental responsibility
    • Prior experience working in a law firm or other professional services setting strongly preferred
    • Must have experience with computer applications, budgeting, MS Office 2016 Suite and Windows 10 preferred
    • Flexibility to work in a changing environment, and the initiative to play a leadership role
    • Excellent human resources and employee relations skills and sensitivity to the complexities of a law firm
    • A solid understanding of law firm structure and management from financial, operational, and personnel perspectives
    • Outstanding relationship and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate, assess talent and discipline effectively
    • Solutions-oriented with the ability to address problems by gathering relevant information, formulating alternatives and building consensus around decisions
    • Excellent judgment and business acumen
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills coupled with maturity and confidence
    • High level of discretion; even-keeled with the ability to maintain composure under pressure
    • Energetic with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
    • Able to operate relatively independently, with limited day-to-day oversight/direction
    • Must be able to travel regularly between the West Coast offices and occasionally to other Firm locations
    • Minimal lifting; up to 20 lbs.
