    If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are achievement, initiative, professionalism, responsiveness and adaptability, you may be the person we are seeking to join our Docket Services department, in Chicago, as a Docket Manager. 

     

    • Manage the Docket Services function in the Chicago Office
    • Provide substantive procedural advice to attorneys in the Firm
    • Apprise attorneys of rule amendments affecting procedure
    • Manage workflow and participate as needed in the capacity of a working manager
    • Assist in preparing and managing annual department budget
    • Participate in the hiring, training, conducting performance reviews and leading of the Docket Services staff  
    • Direct daily interaction with legal staff to coordinate court/agency filings and to promote information sharing related to docket management
    • Maintain a working knowledge of court rules and procedures, and expertise regarding case related research
    • Review court documents to insure conformity with relevant rules and procedures
    • Coordinate the services of outside vendors
    • Elevate the profile of Docket Services in the Chicago office by providing services to all practice groups; promote department services to lawyers and staff
    • Actively participate in the initiative to create a central Docket Services team serving the U.S. offices
    • Represent the Firm at various court related and association meetings/functions

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree preferred
    • Two years of supervisory/leadership experience is preferred and previous docket experience is required, preferably at large law firm
    • Thorough understanding of rules based docket software solutions (CompuLaw preferred) and use of on-line research resources such as LexisNexis CourtLink and/or Westlaw CourtExpress
    • Previous work experience with a high-level of responsibility and having demonstrated initiative and critical thought is required
    • Thorough working knowledge of electronic case filing systems and procedures
    • Working knowledge of rules and procedures for courts and agencies located in the Chicago area
    • Training experience strongly preferred
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills required as this person will interact with attorneys and support staff often under time sensitive circumstances
    • Strong organization and leadership skills
    • Excellent decision-making skills
    • Planning and strategizing daily and long term operations, resource allocation, and staff development
    • Participate in salary discussions/performance bonus recommendations (when applicable)
    • Handle performance reviews, corrective actions and counseling of staff
    • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
